Nomad: A multi-sport school that adapts to the seasons, not a fixed schedule

Nomad began as a sports project with a very clear vision: to adapt to seasonality and environmental conditions. Behind the project is Laia, a sports and teaching enthusiast whose personal and professional journey naturally explains how this approach to sports came to be.

From a young age, Laia grew up in an environment deeply connected to the world of sports. Her father owned a windsurfing and skiing shop in Barcelona and organized summer windsurfing camps, where she learned the sport and discovered the value of sports as a space for learning and community. Over time, this experience would shape her way of teaching and relating to sports.

At the same time, Laia trained as a ski instructor and gained experience in teaching and sports management, even creating and managing a ski club within another school. After several years living and working in the city, the overwhelming pace of urban life and the need for a change led her to make a key decision: to leave Barcelona and move to the mountains to build a project aligned with a lifestyle more connected to nature.

This is how Nomad was born, conceived from the start as a multi-sport school, club, and community. In winter, activities go far beyond alpine skiing to include ski touring, guided backcountry routes, and ice climbing. The rest of the year, the project stays active with disciplines such as windsurfing, climbing, or cycling. Nomad doesn't dictate a sport: it reads the environment, adapts to each season, and supports individuals in their learning throughout the year.

The Nomad ski school and club: an intense season that demands organization

Winter is a crucial time for Nomad. It's when the ski school and club concentrate most of the year's activity, and where organization becomes fundamental for everything to run smoothly.

The season begins long before the snow arrives. At the end of August, all the preparation work kicks off: student registrations, club planning, finalizing the teaching team, and organizing all the necessary structure to face the winter months. During this period, every decision is important so that, once the season begins, daily operations flow seamlessly.

Currently, Nomad's ski team consists of about 30 instructors, with diverse profiles and ages, and a club that brings together more than 260 children. For Laia, the goal is not just growth, but maintaining quality, a close relationship, and control of every detail, even with a high volume of students and instructors. Being able to know the families, the children, and the team is an essential part of the project.

During winter, the operational pace is much more intense than in summer. Last-minute changes, group coordination, and daily management require a clear vision of everything happening in the school and club.

Centralizing management to grow with peace of mind

It is in this context that management becomes critical. Laia herself summarizes it bluntly:
“If Lueira ever crashes, I lose the school.”

For her, Lueira is the hub of everything. Clients, collections, pending payments, database, instructor documentation, class and teacher scheduling… everything is centralized in one place. In a school without a physical office, having real-time control over payments and information is an absolute priority.

One of the aspects she values most is the flexibility in managing bookings. Being able to leave a booking halfway, resume it, modify schedules, add or remove hours, change instructors, or move classes without having to start from scratch saves her a huge amount of time. The calendar is always dynamic, adapting to constant daily changes, which is essential in a school where students can book various durations and where planning adjusts continuously.

Team management is also key. Instructors have an app from which they can view their classes in real time, clock in and out, which facilitates coordination and hour tracking. Quarterly closures and activity monitoring are greatly simplified, eliminating manual processes that previously required sheets, agendas, or internal Excel files that were difficult to keep updated.

By delegating management to a reliable and intuitive tool, Nomad has been able to dedicate time and energy to other areas of the project: improving the website, growing on social media, and strengthening the school's image beyond administrative tasks.

A tool that supports the project's growth

For a project like Nomad, characterized by seasonality, diverse disciplines, and a high volume of management in winter, having a tool that centralizes all information is not an option, but a necessity.
